Elizabeth Mensah

Specialist | Advisory

Elizabeth Mensah is a specialist in CAO’s Advisory Function. Elizabeth joined CAO in 2011 and led the revision of CAO’s operational guidelines and monitoring and evaluation system. From 2013-2019 she led and developed the Advisory Function which included the production of CAO advisory notes on land and supply chain, workshops on agribusiness, financial intermediaries and energy, and guidance documents on grievance mechanisms - among others. Prior to joining CAO, Elizabeth taught and researched at Johns Hopkins University. Her work has been regionally focused in Africa, specifically with regards to traditional land rights and chieftaincy systems, the impact of conflict on development, and local tools for violent conflict identification, management, and mitigation. A Ghanaian and Canadian national, Elizabeth holds a PhD in International Relations from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Elizabeth commenced a developmental assignment with the Gender Team in MIGA’s Economics and Sustainability Department.
