Ivan Besserer is a Senior Environmental and Social Compliance Specialist at the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman’s (CAO) Office. Prior to joining CAO, he was a Senior Social Development Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where he managed the social risks and impacts of some of the most complex operations in the IDB’s portfolio. At the IDB, he also led the development of guidance material for their new Environmental and Social Policy Framework. Prior to joining the IDB, Ivan worked as a Social Development Specialist at the World Bank and held numerous government positions. He holds an M.Sc. in Democracy and Comparative Politics from University College London (UCL), where he was a Chevening Scholar.
