Claudia Maffettone, an Italian national, is a mediator and conflict resolution expert with extensive experience in designing and facilitating dialogue initiatives to advance peace. She joined the CAO Dispute Resolution team as a Senior Dispute Resolution Specialist in December 2024.

Before joining CAO, Claudia was the Mediation Program Manager at Search for Common Ground, where she led over 50 dialogue initiatives. Her work includes supporting US-Iran and US-Russian relations, the advancement of an inclusive peace process for Syria, de-escalating tensions in Central Asia, fostering the advancement of dialogue and mediation in several African countries, and promoting peace initiatives in the Middle East. 

Claudia trained at the US Institute of Peace, Harvard Law School, and the New York City Bar. She holds a BA in International Relations from the Universita’ degli Studi di Napoli ‘L’Orientale’ and an MA in Conflict Resolution from the University of Bradford. She is committed to increasing women’s participation and to designing more creative, dynamic and inclusive dialogue processes.
