Irum, a Pakistani national, joined CAO as Head of Advisory in 2023 to lead the development of well-researched and analyzed advice that brings valuable addition to IFC and MIGA in meeting their environment and social policy commitments. Before joining CAO, she dedicated approximately sixteen years to the Asian Development Bank, with the last 3+ years spent as an Advisor to the Office of the Compliance Review Panel. Her professional background includes roles as an international transaction lawyer and leadership of ADB’s Law and Policy Reform Program. In this capacity, she directed projects addressing various sustainable development issues. Irum actively collaborated with legal and judicial stakeholders to establish the Asian Judges Network on Environment. Furthermore, she worked closely with multiple courts in Asia to address environmental and Gender-Based Violence Cases. Her contributions extended to leading the publication of several knowledge products on environmental laws, climate change, and gender equality matters. Irum holds a Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
